I don’t know what to search for or where to buy it. I need to buy a xj750 aftermarket front brake lever assembly with sensor. I purchased something on eBay not realizing it didn’t have the sensor hookup, so when I press the brakes my rear brake light does not come on. Anyone know where to get one?

Or you can use the one you have by replacing the banjo bolt that holds the line to the master cylinder with one that has a brake switch built into the bolt. Just make sure you get the correct thread pitch for your MC. Then hook up the 2 wires and you should have brake lights via fluid pressure instead of lever movement. Buddy has one, works well.

I'm interested in what you are saying here. That sounds like exactly what I need. I do not want to go back to stock because I've already purchased non stock controls and hooked them up. The stock xj750 has the electronic controls for kill switch etc molded onto the brake perch and lever.

Where can I find a bolt that has the brake switch built into the bolt on the master cylinder? Is this a common ebay item? I'm using these search terms, and that looks like what I need - https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_od...kw=motorcycle+banjo+bolt+with+sensor&_sacat=0

Also there is a similar sensor for the clutch if I am not mistaken, why does the xj need that sensor on the clutch? I thought that was all mechanical.

Yes that is the exact thing I am referring to. Check, double check, and triple check the thread size and pitch for the particular master cylinder you are using. Order the corresponding size banjo bolt/switch. On the clutch side there is a clutch safety switch. If disabled you can either start the bike in gear or only be able to start in neutral. I can't remember which way and don't have the wiring diagram handy at the moment. It's there to ensure that either the motorcycle is in neutral or the clutch is pulled before allowing starter engagement

Ahh ok. How do I accurately measure my banjo bolt thread size and pitch?

Do you have a banjo bolt that came with or works with the master cylinder you want to use? I'm going to assume yes. Depending on what you have available, you can use a die or thread chaser very carefully not as not to damage the threads on the bolt. Or the proper sized hex nut. Common sizes I have seen are M10x1.00 and M10x1.25

Oh ok thank you very much for your help! I’ll go buy some of those hex nuts and see what it is :)
