Needless to say a need a carb body now and it’s the number two carb to boot. Number two being the only one with the vacuum line on the head side of the carb.
So where do I find a body is my question????

Spare bodies are on Ebay (Chacal might have one as well).
The post can be fixed by any halfway decent welding shop.

    Christopher,

This is a very common problem with the Mikuni BS34 Carb used on the XS1100/XJ1100. Broken float posts are extremely common, I probably have half-dozen+ BS34's in a pile all with broken posts. They are (as you know) very thin and a little to much aggression trying to remove the float pin for cleaning and SNAP! As you are obviously aware, this is the only one in the bank that's not interchangeable with others. It looks a little like the P.O. of your bike tried some JB Weld (or similar) to repair. Since that stuff is NOT resistant to fuel, it doesn't work for long. There's more than one XS1100 in ashes as a result of the FIRE following the failure of JB Weld.

Be aware, you can replace this with the carb body from an '80/81 XS11 without any issue but not from the earlier 78/79 XS1100 as they are significantly different (floats, bowls, bowl venting, slides, jets, etc.). It is very common to find mixed sets in use as folks use whatever they can find. The XS750 & 850 apparently used the same BS34 model carb but there is something major different and they can't be used on an 1100, so I've been told.

Be very cautious of e-bay and make 100% sure what you are buying as many folks on evil-bay don't know what they have.

Early BS34 Carb is NOT compatible with your XJ1100
    IMG_1844.JPG
Later BS34 from an 80/81 XS1100 would work with your XJ1100 buy may not have the same drain port in the bowl if you get an '80 (just use yours, it will fit).

Chacal would be a great source to check FIRST. If no luck.... try XS11.com.

I wish I had one to help you out with, but I recently gave away my last later model #2 that was not in a bank of functional carbs.

Thank you very much. That was very useful Kurt.
I had noticed the ones on eBay had different throats after looking, as I read in another post they they shared carbs (theXS and the XJ1100). I’ll keep an eye out and will be getting ahold of ej4ever soon.

Yay, Chacal has one and less then I figured price wise. Makes me happy
I may try and fix this body later as I’m a welder myself but right now I just want to get this thing running and on the road.
