So I'm not sure why my bike suddenly started doing this. A little history; The last owner was a retard and had carb 1 vacuum sync adjustment port connected to carb2 and carb 3 connected to carb 4. I took all of this off and capped each port individually with new caps. The engine had been idling a little high at idle but nothing extreme. He also podded this thing and I don't know where to get a stock airbox. There is also a manual petcock on it, I'd like to go back to a vacuum petcock as the manual is annoying.

Now I changed out the handlebars and controls as the old ones were bent due to me hitting a deer and the engine is idling crazy high. I'm not sure exactly how high because the RPM gauge has been busted since I hit that deer a month ago on the thing, but I would guess around or above 8k RPM.

The throttle is lifting and seating as it should. Even with choke all the way on the bike idles at about the same amount. I tried moving the idle adjustment screw all the way in and all the way out and it still idles just as high.

Sounds like I just need to take the carbs off and rebuild/sync them doesn't it? I've been putting this off because I haven't really had a time where I could have the bike down for several days while I do this. :(

You're making some serious RPM's there. The throttle is obviously jammed open. Take a pod off and see if the butterflies are open.

Look on eBay or a cycle salvage for the airbox . I would NOT be riding if RPM is at 8000 ...You need to check and make sure your throttle cable is not sticking . Can you idle it down with the idle knob ? or are you trying the synch screws?

I was using the idle knob. The throttle was not stuck. I rebuilt the carbs and the high idle issue went away. Now I have other questions that I’ll post in a separate thread.
