So..taking exhaust off for a good cleaning last week, and the very first stud bolt practically falls off when I touch it with a socket. Luckily it came off clean at the bolt and leat a lot of bolt to grab. After a week of heat, kroil, tap, wiggle, nothing, it finally moved about 1/4 turn yesterday. Today it came right out like it never had a problem. So happy I didnt rush this and break it off.

it looks like you still had some remaining threads, enough to cinch 2 nuts together and just use a wrench.

I was afraid of breaking the bolt....figured the vice grips were enough to turn it with less chance of breaking off.

Time and patience... Two things necessary to work a rusted bolt free.. and of course

Glad you got it and had the sense to walk away from it when things didn't go your way right away!
