Bought a 2018 MT07, passing on my Maxim.

Weather cleared up at last - a foot of snow through most of April is just wrong - and I went for a ride around town stopping in at a local dealership.

And sorta fell in love with an MT07. And sorta bought an MT07. That I probably can't afford, but that's Future Derrick's problem. Got a couple weeks before it arrives and is built, though, so I'm getting in as much quality time with my Maxim as I can now.

I'm going to finish up work on my Maxim (replacing it's suffering front tire with a new one I already have), wash it and post it for sale as sadly, I lack a garage so I can't amass bikes. I'm currently planning on holding onto my completely disassembled Seca, and making that my project for the summer, unless someone's particularly interested in the whole kit and caboodle (complete, running Maxim, disassembled but complete Seca, and incomplete (trashed frame and front end are gone; full drivetrain) parts Maxim - all 82 750's). I dunno. Still pretty uncertain about what exactly I'm going to do, though.

If any forumgoer is interested, let me know - I'd be happy to give a great deal and no-bullshit assessment of her condition(which is of course readily available in my posting history anyways!) to a fellow xjbikes user.

Apparently that 700 twin is magical. I have sort of fallen for the xsr7. You had better start an "Other Motorcycles" thread for the fz, er I mean mt.

That was a strong contributor to how easily I was talked into it. I'd watched a LOT of videos over the last ~3 years, lots of reviews, and *everyone* gushes over the CP2 engine. Some will complain that "it's too small" but TBH my Maxim has all the power I'll ever need, and while it runs great, I doubt it's putting out the HP it originally did, 35 years and 80,000kms ago. And even at comparable power, for 150 lbs less? That's a very, very significant difference.

I'll definitely start a thread for it once I get it. The wait is brutal; I've never bought a new bike before, and having that big an investment be something I have to wait for... god, it's horrible.

haha nah, younger me would have gone with the gray and hivis wheels, but now... I know my wheels will be dirty, basically all the time. Dirty hi-vis yellow/green rims will look *horrible*, and to be honest, I'm inspired by a fellow's white and red XJ750 on Reddit. There's a level of retro-classiness to it, IMHO.

    I went with this one:
