My 81 for some reason has a tubetype tire. The 82 has a tubeless.I sure dont want a tube type.Otherwise they look identical.they will interchange, brakes, rotors, all that correct? In the manual is says UK bikes had tubetype front tires. Why would they do that.Anyhow, either way the tire is shot, got to be replaced.

re install the tubeless valve stem when you change the rim.
and yes 81 and 82 rims are the same.
po probaly put a tube in there instead of replacing tire due to hole or cracks leaky rim bead

    Jetfixer and Chitwood like this.

I would hope but to be sure they do i will tell the dealer put a new stem in.So its possible to stick with the rim he made tubed but put a tubeless stem in it? UK bikes came with tubed front wheels. No way I know of to see if this is a uk bike, but I doubt it.Most likely he did the thing you said.

I've mounted both tires on both bikes. Didn't bother to balance the ones on my 82 as they were used and worn to begin with but still better than the 10+ year old tires that were on it. The 81 got brand new tires so I put 2 oz of balance beads in each and seems to be working well. Got valve stems from my buddy that used to work at harley. Not hard to do at all really.

They're like tiny plastic bb's. People have their preferences, but they enable me to change tires by myself at home, and not have to buy or borrow a balanced or take them someplace to be balanced

my dealer will balance them but mount them. I have a guy who charges 10 to 15 $ to mount and balance tires.
I am going to try the duct tape mounting with the set I am buying the utube video made it look easy then give a shot at balancing them.

the shinko does come with the red dot to aline with valve stem
