I have attempted to lube the speedo, but the squeeling comes back. Has new speedo cable installed... Does anyone have a cluster that want to sell?

Did you disassemble the cluster to lube the speedometer?
Did the new speedo cable come pre-lubed?

If you have a 750 seca/maxim You can pull cluster out of bracket without unplugging wires . Pull the 2 screws out of head light bucket it will give you some clearance . Remove 4 screws on back plate of the cluster . Remove the cluster bracket, and there are several screws around , the speedo is held by 4 screws . Carefully pull speedo out but do not touch face or needle . Use penetrating oil I use PB Blaster or Kroil looking from top of speedo spray gimble it is the flywheel there is a bearing that dries out down in there. Next the neck that the cable threads on to spray into opening again there is a bearing in there as well . I use a q tip with a little white lithium grease on the gears .reassemble should take care of the howling , done this to 2 different clusters worked like a charm . When my first speedo did this thought I was dragging something screamed like a JT8 jet engine .

Thanks, yes it is a loud scream. When it first happened, I had no idea what was going on and I was 70 miles away from home.... I will give this procedure a try as soon as I get time. In my case, I have to pull the fairing off the bike to get access because I have the factory touring model Seca.

yes it might be a little more challenging , I know it saved 2 of my clusters doing this trick . I'm an aircooled VW nut and have done this to a couple of speedos that locked up. Just be careful and don't touch face plate (finger prints  not good after reassembly) and don't touch needle unless you put a little paint on it after 30 plus years fragile . I applied some red-orange paint to my needle but was very gentle with it with a soft brush and thinned paint.
