So I tore down the carbs today and have cleaned the carb body thoroughly, going to have to replace floats and bowl gaskets. I have been trying to figure out where the YICS block off tool goes, I cannot find any ports where it would fit in. I have looked online but I still leave confused. If anyone could help me figure out where to look I would appreciate it, thanks! (Note: I do not have the block off tool just planning for said situation)

Look at the engine. Ob the cylinder by the head part line. Near the carb boots. You will see a tube cast into it runs all the way across all 4 cylinders. with a bolt on either side. If that makes sense to you

It goes on a shelf. It gathers dust. Lol, the tool is not necessary. But others disagree. The endless debate resumes now:

Question why are you replacing the floats? done several carbs on multiple bikes , yet to see a bad float ( not saying it can't happen just strange ) You don't need the YICS tool , good chance passage is plugged anyway .

The floats have ate away by bad gas.
So if I don't use the tool the bike run fine?

Also in the bowl area I see the main jet and the pilot jet. What is the small brass tube called. When I sprayed carb cleaner through it, it sprayed out a hole in the top of the carb. I don't believe it sprayed out of the air jets up top but a hole that was kinda recessed into the side. What is this tube?

the tube is part of the enrichment/choke circuit. the trouble end is in the float bowl where that tube goes. there's a little jet down in that hole that gets plugged
look at this http://www.xj4ever.com/inside your carbs.pdf

    Ohh that makes sense!

When I sprayed carb cleaner through the air hole in the top for the choke some of it was coming up through the plungers. Does this indicate bad seals or is it just because its more pressure than normal? Would it be nessacerly to remove the choke plungers to clean them, if so how do I?

If your carbs are really gummed up you really need to a FULL tear down this what we refer to as church of clean . All rubber seals and O rings removed and replaced. One source of vacuum leaks are the butterfly seals ( xj4ever Caries these seals as well as the fuel rail O rings) once all seals are removed then you need to do a full soak 1 hr per carb, this only real way to clean out small passages. Spray cleaner will not fully get into small passages. I can't post the church of clean post but sure kmoe or others can

As for the yics tool, it helps to super dooper fine tune each carb individually without interference from the others, but ask yourself this. Why would you set up your bike to work in one condition, and then remove the tool that causes that condition when you run it? For me, it makes most sense to set up the carbs to run best the way you will be running it.

I'm very tempted to skip those throttle shafts but I figure it will bite me in the ass if I don't take care of them.

Good to know! I'll probably make my own manometer seeing as buying one cost a pretty penny.

That's where mine is......still in the plastic bag, too. Ai bought it quite a few years ago, and have NEVER used it. I don't see a need to yet.i'm not dialing any bike in for a race track, so ai don't need that last 1/100,000 of a second.
