Other than Progressive shocks, is there another brand that is suitable? Air adjust is not necessary.

Lots of stuff here about this, do a search, I was glad I did. I decided to avoid cheap original spec, however some of the ones out there are another world price wise. I have found a set of hagons on ebay which were better than they looked, for my seca I'm hoping to get the konis re-shafted or there is a set on ebay.

As long as the eye-to-eye length is correct it doesn't matter what brand you get (generally). You'll want to make sure that they are sprung for the weight of the bike + rider, and perferably adjustable to allow for a passenger and luggage.

Other well regarded brands (IMO) in no particular order:
    Hagon
    YSS
    WP (now Works Performance)
    IKON
    Penske

The price range varies quite a bit (Penske is on the high side), and you'll probably want to do more looking if you're concerned about retaining the 80's look (Hagon is a good place to start for that).

Google seems to like Progressive the most. I did see Hagon but didn't look further. When i bought the bike, i didnt think to ask if the shocks were original. They do appear to be stamped with a logo that reads "AMD" with a globe as part of the "A". Ring any bells?

I went with RFY shocks. They look cool and are built good but the quality control of fuilds and charging them is non-existent.
There is also different series of these shocks. The earlier series shocks came with better quality internal working parts.
Before installing them I dumped the oil that was in them. They had different amounts of oil in each and no nitrogen charge, period. After putting in quality oil in the correct amounts and charging them with a couple pounds of nitrogen they are satisfactory shocks for the kind of riding most of us do. I think I'm into them around $125
There is a guy who also does service, rebuilds and sells better quality internal parts for them. Chris Livengood. He can make track worthy if need be.

One caveat. Most larger brands will pay Google to place the search results for that brand closer to to the front of the list.

Yup...familiar with that. This is the shock on the bike now. Do they appear to be the OEMs? shock.jpg

They are only rebuildable if you have access to a lathe, can weld, and are good with heat control. I've never rebiult a set, and have no idea if you can source any of the seals or bushings.

The shocks currently on your bike are aftermarket.

This pic is of a stock pair.

If you are on a tight budget a used pair can be a good deal. It's pretty uncommon for them to be worn out, unless they came off of a high-mileage bike.
