With the front end of the bike being upgraded. its come with a wider front wheel and i think it will be a little bit too much compared to the 2.15 x 17" rear Seca Wheel. Is the Maxim 3.00 x 16" a direct fit? I feel it will balance the wheel sizes out

    Many thanks

    Jish

Yeh, it does fit, but you'll need the brake drum with the wheel - maxim is smaller (on the 650s anyway).

Correct, the brakes shoes are a smaller size on Maxim models than on Seca models.

The brake "drum" is integral with the wheel itself, if you have the wheel, you have the drum because the drum is not removable!

Ok chacal, stop nitpicking, you know what I meant. Perhaps you would tell us all what the hub, shoe carrier, bit in the middle is called?

Wasn't picking a nit, just added some clarification for others who might not understand!

    What does "it" refer to?

If you are referring to the polished round brake BACKING PLATE (what you call the "shoe carrier", which is a pretty good descriptive term) it's called a BRAKE SHOE PLATE in Yamaha-speak.
