No, I don't think so. I think those are permanent plugs used when the carb bodies passages are drilled. I'm not sure which passage you are referring to, but some can be probed with small guitar string. I've never had to do that. Ultra sonic cleaning might help, or simply boiling the carb body for 10-15 minutes will remove varnish. (I always remove the rubber parts, but boiling water shouldn't really be hot enough to damage them). Someone familiar with your carbs will be able to tell you more.

Boiling in car washing fluid solution in an ultrasonic cleaner works well, but some of these deposits are stubborn.
You could pull a plug or two, but you shouldn't need to.

Ok, I'll try boiling it in washer fluid. Hope for the best.

Got it !! Had it boil it in washer fluid, then use a #40 drill bit to drill it out very slowly. Black peace of dirt, very hard, carbon biuld-up like. But flowing like the rest as far as I can tell. Now to order the kit and put than all back together.
Thanks for all the help, really looking forward to riding this bike. Have a new job that I have to travel 40 miles one way hoping the gas mileage will be better than my DL650, it only gets 38mpg at 75 mph.

I would like to thank everyone for all there help. I bought new jets, rebuilt kits, and intake boots. Did all the reading and followed all the instructions on rebuilding these carbs. I have to say I was very happy when I started it and all cylinders where running great, idle was nice and only needed a small amount of syncing to get the carbs in. All I have to do now is set the mixture with a colortune plug when I get one. Out of work at the moment, have to wait till income comes back. But at least I'm very happy with the results.
Thanks again to everyone. Wish my Honda forums were as good as this one.
    Marc.

Took her for a ride yesterday, comfortable bike, engine sounds good, runs great. Very happy with it. I do need to replace the clutch this winter, it slips a bit when shifting at high rpm's.

Double-check the cable adjustment before you replace the clutch.
The throwout arm slack should be taken up by the cable, but not so much that the throwout assembly is compressing the clutch master plate.

The good part about getting your bike running again is enjoying all your hard work. The bad, you find the next thing that needs work.. front rim is bent pretty bad, ill be looking for a new straight one soon
