Hello all, I’m brand new here and just purchased a 1981 XJ550. The seller had no idea what the bike is. I found out the model through a VIN look up. My question is what sub model is it. It seems to have a mix of parts. Not sure if it is a maxim that someone tried to convert into a Seca. Also there is a front lower spoiler that I haven’t seen on any other models, maybe aftermarket? I’ll include the VIN, any help is appreciated.
    4U8 023833 - shorty
    JYA5K5009BA023833 - converted 17 digit, I couldn’t read a few digits on the stamp.

    Thanks in advance
    Bill

I can see why you're puzzled. I see a mix of things on that bike. After you get 5 posts, you can post your own pictures directly. If you can post more detailed photos, I'm sure the crew here will tell you all the things wrong with the bike! I'm only half joking! We'll certainly help you in any way we can though.

Thanks, I will definitely take some better pictures. I haven’t even picked the bike up yet, hopefully I will get it on Friday.

That is, in American parlance, a Seca. The finest of the marque albeit with a few aftermarket additions in your case. Lot of pics when it arrives please!
