After rebuilding carbs and putting bike back together, I realized that this foam element in the airbox pretty much disintegrated upon touching (parts book indicates it as a suction pipe). How critical is it for running the bike and carburation? If it is critical, what's the best way to remove and replace with a fresh foam element (assuming I can cut one of my own)? Does it pull down and pop out?

    We have them in stock!

HCP17795 Aftermarket coarse foam airbox vent FILTER PUCK, fits all XJ550 Seca models. Proper grade and sized foam disc fits inside the vent in the bottom of the airbox housing, correctly replacing a typically missing or disintegrated original filter. This filter and its installation can be reviewed at: http://xjbikes.com/forums/index.php?threads/31872

Thank you! I seemed to have successfully fabricated one myself using a cookie cutter and a lawn mower filter cut to depth. I’m on a mission to fire this bike up this eve. It popped right out from inside the air box. Removed the front sprocket cover to help with manipulation.
