    Hey peoples on XJ.....
    My wife wants to start riding with me, and I want a sport touring bike. But it has to be a Yamaha....Any suggestions!

    New or used? New would be the FJR. Really good bike with all the touring gear. Used means you can buy almost anything sport basic and add some soft saddle bags and a travel trunk or sissy bar bag. The XJ600 Seca II would be a good choice for this. Or maybe even a later model FJ1200.

    We just got an '91 XV 250 Virago for my wife for $2500. An ideal starter but a cruiser more than a tourer.

    Nice little bike which suits her well. She's only 5' tall (she says 5'1" ) and the low riding position and centre of gravity gives her the added confidence of being able to put both feet on the ground, only when stationery though :)

    It has enough grunt to get her around and is light enough for her to control.

    Bottom line is that she'll be the one that has to be comfortable with it and on it.
