I have an 82 xj750 seca and am looking for any windshield that would fit it. I'm going on a roadtrip and would like something that provides decent protection but will save me a little money vs buying from ebay!

I don't have anything for sale, but the Slipstreamer Spitfire windscreen is a very good value. You will need to remove the handlebar covers to fit it though (which is true for most aftermarket windscreens). There are a few on Ebay for under $100 shipped.

I have been seeing that one pretty frequently, does it offer decent protection? I wondered about getting a wider one that covers hands a little bit too, or is that not worth it?

I've had one for a few years now, and like it pretty well. Buffeting can be an issue unless you set the windscreen high, or make an extension as I did. A bigger windscreen might be preferable, but the extra expense isn't worth it to me. I've ridden in all sorts of weather, and have things set up now so that I only get moderate helmet buffeting when riding into a strong headwind (20 mph + winds). Rain goes right over my head. Hogfiddles has his set up so the windscreen is near the highest point that it can be, and says the wind goes well over the top of his helmet (he's taller than I am).

If you look at my red 700, you can see where I have it. I get ZERO helmet buffeting, and no gusts hitting the chest. For long distances I make sure to have a pack strapped behind me for a back support. It feels very solid and stable then. Height?- I'm 6'2-1/2"

I am pretty much your exact same height, and that windscreen looks good! Any opinion on the hellfire vs the spitfire? I know the spitfire is quite a bit cheaper. But I'll definitely look more into the spitfire.

The Hellfire is wider. RickCoMatic had one on his Maxim and liked it a lot.

Adjusting the height to suit is still the main key to liking a windscreen. The airflow has to either go over the top of your helmet, or between the bottom of the helmet and your shoulders, otherwise you get buffeting.

Hey Neman, I have an older post about the spitfire somewhere in here, maybe with a pic, but I swear by it. As k-moe mentioned, you need to set it a little high. I have it on my XJ650 with the round headlamp. At the angle I used, the rubber grommet from an old shock is the perfect buffer on top of the headlamp. I rode with it at differing angles about 5 times until I eliminated buffeting.

I have rode through Colorado hail with it!

Will these windshields work with the aluminum Maxim handlebars?

There is a set of optional brackets for that.
    square-bar-adapter-hardware
They mount between the controls and the mirrors.

I have a windshield from an 81 650 Maxim if that would work? I'd imagine they would be similar

Since it's missing the front glass, too, how about $150 including shipping

I just talked to the original owners widow and she’s checking out his barn. Might be a couple days cause he had a massive amount of cars motorcycles and horses in there.
