    Hi all.

I am the new owner of a 1985 XJ 700 Maxim, but I don't know the right version of that bike.

At web I found 2 Maxim versions in 1985.

    - XJ 700 Maxim N
    - XJ 700 Maxim NC

What's the different between this versions?

My bike has the Identnr. JYA1FG000FA002695

Who knows the right version of my bike.

    Thanks!

I think your English is great to be honest.

I've seen the NC listed as a California model due to their emmission standards.

I know that didnt answer your question, but I'll keep looking.

    Welcome Achim;
The 1FG in your serial# designates your model XJ700N.
    The XJ700NC has 1JJ as the model#
According to the xjcd they are both 85 models sold in the US market.
So DudeBozo may be right that the C is for California, But I don't know this for sure.
    It's a nice looking ride.

I've done a little more research Achim. From what I've been able to find the NC is indeed a California identifier. jdrich48 answered the question about which model you have, and coincidently the one I have as well.

Here's a link to a microfiche file of the California gas tank.

Yep, jdrich48 noted that your numbers are that of a XJ700N. My tank is the same as yours. Good looking bike you've got. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

I can relate, my FZR is an AC and it caused me a little trouble with parts due to all the emissions crud.

    @ DudeBozo

    I enjoy riding that bike.

My problem is only our Yamaha-dealer, because he don't have any partnumbers of my bike.
His computer knows only all bikes from 1986 and younger.
If I have any problems or need some parts, I must tell him the right partnumbers.
That is the reason for asking about version of my bike.

I have had some of the same issues here with part numbers. Try this link to the microfilm drawings, they help a lot.

Also this site was referenced somewhere else on this website so I can't take credit for it, but works well also. Just proceed to the catalog and enter your information from the drop-down menu.

    Hope that helps.
