My thanks to everyone that contributes to these forums. I have never considered myself mechanically inclined or adept with tools, but with all the information and encouragement I have gotten by lurking and researching here, I now have a 'street legal', well running XJ750 Seca that is a ton of fun.

This bike was given to me in late August, not running and having sat for a while. (The last inspection sticker was from 1994). Some of it was in parts in a couple of boxes.

It now has: new tires, rebuilt front forks, clean as a whistle carbs, rebuilt front brakes and new pads, cleaned and readjusted rear brakes, a correctly adjusted clutch, a clean and refurbished starter, a new starter relay, an inline fuel filter, rewired front turn signals, alternator brushes have been checked, and all electrical connections I can get to have been checked.

The carbs have been benched synched, but still need to adjusted on the bike and 'color-tuned'. However, this will probably have to wait until spring. It idles and runs well now, but I am sure this will give me a performance boost.

I also need to replace the fuse box.

Thanks again to all the posters here. I could never have done this without your help.

    Bill

Welcome to XJBikes Bill, glad you found us.
Sounds like you have been busy! I have to say, the bike looks great from the one picture, how about posting some more?

I do have another question, how are the front turn signals attached? They look similar to the ones I have to mount on the front of my bike.

    Thanks for the kind words.

The turn signals were installed by a PO and appear to be screwed on to the existing posts. The plastic mounts are a touch brittle and I don't want to take them off until I have new ones to replace them.

Be sure and check the wattage of your new bulbs. If they are not 27w bulbs, the original flasher relay will not work. The bulbs in my turn signals are not 27w so I replaced the relay with one from AutoZone. That means I have given up the self-canceling feature for now. But I kept the original relay, and when I replace the turn signals I will go back to the correct bulbs.
