A lot of us have wives, and only some of them are sold on bikes as much as we are. For those with 'em, what on earth do we get them? The typical stuff that women would like: jewelry (she doesn't wear), perfume (she doesn't like), flowers (mean more to me than her) aren't gonna fly at my house. So, aside from the rare moment that I have been observant enough to pick up on an idea of what she would like (like the out-of-print CD she let someone borrow), what gifts are being given this year??

Answer fast as we don't have a lot of time left. :D

Do what I do and ignore your wife all year then....PAY ATTENTION TO HER!!!!

Works everytime. Every one of my past wives loved this gift. Wife number 5 loves it too!!

Just kidding guys. My wife (first wife and only) and I usually don't buy for each other at xmas but if we do it's usually gift certificates for clothing.

My wife and I don't get each other anything either. We spend most of our Christmas budget on the kids and both of us get more enjoyment from that then we would otherwise.

Shoes and clothing go over well if you are sure you get the right size. For your own sake, don't buy anything too big or you're calling her fat, and don't buy her anything too small or you must wish she'd lose some weight. :)

Get her motivated to do something that she's been putting off for herself for way too long.

In my case, I have to get her to the Eye Doctor for new eyeglasses. She's only got the one pair and I'm pretty sure that prescription is a bit dated for her.

Mrs. MiCarl is going to receive a colortune AND an inch-lb torque wrench. I'm hoping she'll let me borrow them from time to time :p

You mean "ex-Mrs. MiCarl" I think. If so, you might as well get her some mercury sticks, a YICS tool and new toolbox to hold all her new tools.

You should have got things that won't be damaged or hurt so much if she throws them at you!

This will be our 43rd Christmas together and at first I never got the right pressy for herself, always to small too cheap or plain dont like it. Cash is the answer but then your thoughtless idle or not caring etc.

About 30 odd years ago I dropped the hint that I was going to buy her some exotic underwear and it worked a treat, the wife suggested cash so she could go to the January sales. So Christmas morning a small present, usually perfume, and a few bob in an envelope and smiles all round.

I bought my wife a MP3 player a few years ago ... she love's it. Now she often "mind escapes" , but is happy singing to her tunes. She say's it's the best present I've ever bought her ..... trust me, I've spent thousands!

Sorry Steve, she doesn't have a sister, but check this out and laugh.

Wendy asked me to look at our finances last night (I typically am given $100/month to stay alive and expected to not mess with the rest) as there was a charge a pizza joint she didn't recognize. Usually this would mean I would be in trouble, but turns out we all ate there and she did remember that.
But as I was looking to see if it was a false charge I saw $146 and thought we'd be calling the bank to find out why a pizza shop had charged us that much, but turns out THAT was connected to my Christmas present that until then I hadn't known. I still don't get to see it until the 25th, but I'm happy.

But after I admitted that I saw the charge and knew what it was for, she admitted to peeking at her only present so far, and she really loves it, but feels really guilty for ruining the suprize. So she has one gift, that she already knows about. I feel like I am behind square one. Oh, and she has to wait until the 25th too.

Last year I did get her the chop saw she wanted, but I am running outta tools she would use, so a torque wrench is out. I guess my next options are repairing a floor lamp she wants to use to read at night, and/or making a potting bench or a laudry shelf. Things she wants, would be happy to recieve and things I can't do without her catching me working on it. Grumble. That and the last few obvious gift (kitchen scale) ideas that wouldn't be "romantic" are being picked off by her dad.

Think I am going with the mixing bowls. Sexy sexy mixing bowls. Either that or the exotic underwear that Faighaigh mentioned. The next question though, should they be for her to wear and my enjoyment, or me to wear and her laughter?

I suggest something sparkly and expensive. Jewelry always wins.

Jon, I'm wondering since you gave her a chop saw why she hasn't made her own potting bench and laundry shelf.

Hard to use it when the kids are napping, even harder to use it when they are awake and want to help. 3 years and 9 months. Not real useful ages, unless you want repetitious questions or sawdust eaten, but so darn cute.

My wife needs new clothes badly. She started dialysis in early spring, and she's lost a lot of weight since then, so none of her clothes fit her any more. I'm thinking a gift card to Target or someplace that has decent clothes for reasonable prices. She likes my bike, so maybe a riding jacket as well.
