    Hey Guys
Can anybody direct me to an online vender that sells cafe racer style fuel tanks that aren’t grossly overpriced and guaranteed to fit. Of course Aliexpress & eBay has a tonne of them and of course they always say it will fit but I’ve been down this road before. I’m actually a licensed Suzuki tech who ended up with a high miler maxim and thought it would be a good project bike.
    Thanks so much

You will not find a drop-on tank for an XJ from any current manufacturer of aftermarket tanks.

The following is a list of other XJ tanks that will interchange. Some XS and XV tanks can be made to interchange with adjustments to the mounting holes, but are not listed.

    Ok Great
Thanks so much. Looks like I’ll be subletting more welding and frame mods than I was originally intending on.

if you can find one the 550 seca tank may be a good option.

if you have a spare maxim tank use the underside and build up from the base

Unless you have good fabrications skills and a decent amount of time on your hands it will end up looking sh!t - they mostly do. Gazzz from the Ukraine has the skills if you're looking for inspiration. As mentioned a Seca tank is already a decent cafe style - in fact buy a Seca they already look 90% like a cafe racer!
