I have a 1982 maxim 750 and i love the bike it has 23,000 miles on it and runs perfect after some tuning and work. i want a little more power. i see they still offer a big bore kit 818cc mega cycle offers cams. mac offers a exhaust and i can have my head ported. has anyone hopped up a 750 with much success? am i wasting my money?

how much money are you talking about?

one of the cams listed needs main jet needle upgraded

will the cams work with the piston upgrade?

cam change does not promise much. some midrange response and a little top end .
top end is covered by redline any thing more may blow motor.

i was looking at the option of installing seca 750 cams since they i think. offer more performance. the big bore would just give me a little more low end. and the porting work just clean up the factory castings not really make the motor flow much more just have my machinist match and clean up casting.i think this would give me at least 8 or more hp. and maybe 5ft pounds of torque. i do not ride the bike hard but i just want to wake it up a little.

Don’t waste your money. If you want more power buy faster bike.

The 750 Seca and 750 Maxim both use the same cams.
The big bore kits that are available have very thin cylinder liners.

I think what you want is a Maxim-X instead of the aircooled Maxim that you have.
