my valve cover started to leak recently, on the right side, sometimes after a lot of riding, my bike smells like burning oil.... Soooo not cool! Is it one of those rubber gaskets you can clean and re-use or is it going to crumble to oblivion when I take it apart?
If I need new does chacal's store have an e-bay store that takes pay pal?
Also, can someone post or point me to valve specs while it's off please
Thanks in advance guys! Your all pretty awesome!love this site! :)

I replace the valve cover gasket with a NOS and was able to reuse donuts although folks tell you not to.

    Think it was like $35

Donuts? It has the little gaskets/o-rings on the bolts then I assume? If so ya, I've had good luck re using those before

The doughnuts and gaskets can only be reused for so-long. They both harden with age. Of the two, the doughnuts are the ones that you want to be the most elastic, since they are what actually presses on the cover to seal the gasket. The half-moon part of the gasket benefits from the application of oil-resistant RTV to help them seal well.

2nd the suggestion of emailing xj4ever and reading the airhead valve adjustment *thoroughly*. I just did this very thing yesterday. New gasket, donuts, checked valves. Taking tuesday off to ride thru the rockies a bit, and enjoy the freshly buttoned up valve cover.

A bit late on the uptake, but I just wanted to second (or third) the praise of BigFitz and the valve adjustment thread; without it and especially the pictures I would have never been able to do this job.
