Looks good to me the way it is, but colour choice is a personal thing. I've been trying to figure out what to do with mine. I'm doing some body work on the fuel tank and it will need to be painted. The bike is currently white with red decaling. I originally had thought of going with black metal flake with a blue stripe, but the white may be growing on me!

I like the silver. Although, I did see one recently that was a deep red, almost a burgandy. It really caught my eye. But, as Nick said, it's a personal preference thing.

The bike looks great as is Zap. Why go through all the hassle of repainting it? Another small detail, my original black tank has red flakes in the paint as well. I'm told that it was done at the factory and is a royal pain to match if you need touchup. I love the appearance and don't plan on changing it if I can help it (not likely as I have a nice dent to remove). Here is a pitch for the white Nick, it is far more visible than the black so you might look at it from a safety point of view. I'm also aware of a product from 3M that looks black but is retroreflective (reflects light right back at source) to appear white in head light reflections. We get it in vinyl sheets in black, red, blue, white, and yellow. Not sure if other colors are available. Don't know the name of it either.

I agree with the safety aspect of white Robert, I also bought a white helmet. I came across the black reflective decals once some time ago on the web, thanks for reminding me of that option.
Thinking of white with the black reflective tape now!!!!

Zapperredtank personally I consider your XJ750 maxim one of the best looking ones out there I wouldn’t change the color. Instead I would spend the time / money on new shocks. Maybe a pair of Progressive 418 Series Aluminum Shocks.

Complete shock assemblies include chrome springs and covers. Shock body machined from aircraft-quality aluminum and clear anodized for good looks and long life. Double-wall construction with steel inner wall for durability. 4130 chromoly steel, hard crhomed shaft. Five-position easily adjustable spring preload allow tuning for ride and load characteristics. Gas-charged for fade-free operation. Speed-sensitive, multi-stage damping for a consistent ride over varying road surfaces.

F.T.S. they're feeding you, there's only one color for stuff to be in mx and that's BLACK glorious black pearls! You can never go wrong. ANd you can dissapear into a dark alley if nessacary and/or park there without anyone else's knowledge. Also if you want to jazz up you're perfect black paint, add some white and red accents. Looks killer on just about anything.

I dunno about that. Black on a bike is pretty conventional. Seems like that's all I see sometimes. I'll admit, my bike is black, but if I ever paint it, or get a new bike, I'll definitely take something other than boring old black...

*sigh* i feel bad for all the bike owners who pick thier colors from a box of fruit loops.
