Well, it'd be a good source of heat in the Winter, but I'm sure it'll get a little too toasty in the Spring and Summer.

Anythings do-able...... I planned on putting one on my '77 KZ650, but sold the bike before getting to fab it up. I just purchased a stock one off of a '03 CBR600RR. They can be had very cheap (under $50), and have a lot of usefull/required bends already. I'd be sure to keep the heat shield intact though. Be sure to keep any/all wiring away from the system as well.

    Cheesy!

With other components under the seat, it would make it difficult to fabricate an exhaust system that routes under the seat (but anything is possible) There will also be a heat factor that may be point to ponder. I remember an episode where Billy Lane made an under seat system for his chopper that started his a$$ on fire during his ride!!!! Not pretty.

I dont think it would be too bad if you put a different rear end on it... It may look out of place or funky with the stock seat and rear though... Might be a fun project and you will end up with a very unique look for an XJ. I would fab an extra heat shield though.. Gonna get HOT!
