Had the first nice day in a while, rode the balls off of my 83 xj750jm and by the end of the day my exhaust was a bit louder and sounded more tin can like. The mufflers were on their way out and now I think they have officially kicked it. A quiet as stock muffler or slightly louder is key. These are the aftermarket options ive been looking at, if any of you know anything let me know. Also if any of you have stock mufflers in good shape let me know.

    None of the above.
MAC and Marving are both of known-to-be-good quality, with Marving being the closest to Yamaha OEM.

IIRC they do sell the mufflers seperately.

Lol your attempt at sarcastuc humor is unappreciated. Comes off as a strange sort of motorcycle forum snobbery. But hey, thanks for your time.

I made no attempt at sarcasm. I was giving an honest opinion, and followup to your comment. $400 is about the retail cost for a full MAC 4-1 system (headers and all, shipping included).
If you need cheap replacements that will work for a few years, then the EMGO set will suffice.
I'd steer clear from anything Dime City resells (they do , or at least did, make good parts in-house, but the exhausts are outsourced and not of particularly good quality IMO).

FYI, we don't do snobbery here
(unless you're planning on turning a pristine Seca 650 into a 'brat bike'. Then we do snobbery and shaming until you change your mind :p )

    +1
It's also worth mentioning that many members have used HD Sportster takeoffs with a great deal of success.

Sportster take-offs from EBay are exactly what I used. My stockers looked great until you saw the big rust holes from underneath. They sit a little too low, but I think it will be fine if I avoid potholes. To fit you will need custom brackets to secure into the milled threaded holes of the HD mufflers. I’m very happy with the look and sound.
