    Hiya again,
    Brand new issue today!

Side stand kill switch should act as follows:

    1) If stand down - Prevent starting in gear, unless the clutch lever is pulled.
    2) If stand down - Kill engine if put into gear after starting in Neutral.
    3) Kill the engine if the side stand is lowered while in gear.

I cannot turn the engine over if I am in gear (unless the clutch lever is pulled) - Normal behavior (#1)
    BUT
I can go into gear with the stand down and drive away - unsafe behavior(#2)
I can put it on the side stand whilst in gear and holding clutch - unsafe behavior(#3)

Is this a switch or a relay?
    How do I test?

    Please disregard this question...
I found the relay... it wasn't plugged into the wiring harness...

    What a moron!

just in case there are other electrical dimwits like me out there here's a .jpg that shows where the side stand relay is.

My switch is disconnected or disabled. I have a couple of times started driving with the side stand down in parking lots. Noticed right away but it did concern me. I think I'll look into fixing it this weekend

while the side stand safety circuit is a nice thing to protect us from ourselves. you should get in the habit of retracting the side stand when you mount bike .
I use side stand to stop engine when I park bike nothing more embarrassing than getting off bike and it falling to the ground.

    Helmet gloves on
    Mount bike.
    retract side stand.
    turn on key
    check neutral light
    start bike.
    ride away.

    or
    turn on key
    check neutral light.
    start bike.
    warm up bike
    Helmet gloves on
    Mount bike.
    retract side stand.
    Ride away
