I am wondering if there is a place or person out there who has new carb boots for the XJ750. I am looking for the boots between the carb and engine, not the ones between the carb and airbox. I am also looking for the right side cover. I have the left cover but I need the right one which covers the battery. I would like to keep this bike as stock as possible so I would hate to have to make a cover which looks out of place. Am I going to be able to find these parts or should I give up?

Keep an eye on Ebay! I found a right side cover for my bike on there a while ago. They are out there but they are hard to find and it might cost you a little bit. Patience is the key. :)

Just give up... I'll PM you my address andyou can ship the bike to me. Seriously though, Ebay is where you will fine them. Might ask around for some measurements on other makes boots, you might get lucky that way.

Persistence will indeed pay off; I found my oil cooler adapter plate that way. I was looking for one from a Seca Turbo, but found an auction from a later model year FJ600. Just for grins, I decided to compare part numbers; to my surprise, they matched.

So, I don't know about different makes, but different models would be worth looking into, methinks.

    Chacal has the boots:

HCP536SET4 OEM Yamaha rubber intake Manifold Boots, complete set of 4 intake manifold boots (2 left and 2 right). Manifolds only; you must order all accessory pieces (boot-to-head gaskets, nipple plug caps, bolts, etc.) separate. Fits all 1982-3 XJ650 Maxim (except turbo) and all XJ750 models. Set of 4: $ 132.00

He did have a right side cover, I bought one from him a couple of months ago but I think I saw where he had another one for sale. I've seen them for sale from other people here on these forums also.

    Cheers,

    Phil

I'm working on recovering my salvaged bike from my friend's brother (long story). I am going to tear it down and use/sell parts, even though my salvaged bike was a five-valve maxim x 700 liquid cooled, and my current 700 is air cooled (BTW, what is the primary difference between five valves (assuming more power? and it is better to have liquid of air cooled?) If we all share out parts we all end up winning in the long run I think.

And I do have them in stock, along with all the accessory pieces (gaskets, clamps, mounting bolts, etc.) that you might also need:

Manifolds only; you must order all accessory pieces (boot-to-head gaskets, nipple plug caps, bolts, etc.) separate. Fits all 1982-3 XJ650 Maxim (except turbo) and all XJ750 models. Set of 4:

What year and model bike do you have? I may have some good used sidecovers available.

As mentioned keep an eye on eBay. And dont forget to check out eBay stores and "Buy It Now" as there are some sellers who dont use auction listings. I found a right side cover for my bike from a guy in the UK, for approx $12 delivered.

For used parts, you can post a request on http://www.riderparts.com .

Salvage yards who have the parts will respond to you with prices.

I've found a clutch lever perch and a complete engine this way, and been happy with both.
