    Hello all,
I'm new to the site, just wanted to say hey. I have a 85 XJ700X that I just purchased. I have yet to hear it run due to "gunked" up carbs. The bike has not run since 2008 and I hope to have it running sometime this week, just waiting on a few parts.

Welcome to the site! That is great, what a nice bike, fast little guy too. After you post a few more times you will be able to get some pics of the bike for us. How many miles on her? Let us know a little about yourself, bikes you have had and riding experience.

The bike I just picked up has 13700 miles on it and is a two owner bike. The second owner has only put 200 miles on it, and it has not run since 2008. Needless to say, the carbs are a mess. I grew up riding dirt bikes and go-karts. This is my third street bike, my previous two bikes were a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 750 and a 1984 Honda Ascot 500. I do have a 2001 KTM 520 EXC which is street legal too. I love bring these old bikes back to life.

I just went through exactly what you are going through on the exact same bike. It was a lot of work but well worth it. Check out my post to see what it looks like now. Good luck.
