Sealed beam retaining clip xj650 maxim

Does anyone know how the retaining clip is held on?

It looks as though it is spot welded on and mine has come off from two places so I'm now riding with electrical tape over the lens and fastened behind the headlight to hold it in place

 

Show us some pics of what you speak. And later models had replaceable H4 bulb.

No it's not that. It doesnt look to be in that diagram.

It's a thin stainless steel ring that sits on the lip of the glass and holds the glass to the main headlight.

Something missing, headlight should not protrude that far out of the bezel.
I’ll post a pic of all the parts that should be there.

this clip holding #7 to #9 retaining headlight in 3 places w/screws.

I have more photos of other parts of the rim adjuster connects inner holder to bucket ring # 15 through hole in #6 through #16 spring to bracket on #9 with nylon "nut" #17

 

Its this bit, where you see the 2 small bumps. They are tack welded and mine has separated on two of the three brackets. But as I mentioned Chacal has already answered me.
