Yes, there's a feature on each side for tank badges. The tank like that one in the pic is WAY off to fit my 550 Maxim frame. It's sitting around for scrap now since no one can truly identify what it's for. The 550 tank is much shorter and has a steeper arc from the mount to the fill cap. I can get more measurements if you need the 550 tank. I don't have a 650 tank.

    Thanks, Ryangoth.

This tank that I am trying to identify has no Yamaha badge mounting indentations. Len has indicated that some XJ750 tanks didn't have them.

I've got a solid XJ650 tank, but was looking to improve fuel capacity with the XJ750 tank.

    Thanks

Just to clarify, XJ650 Seca, XJ650 Turbo, XJ700, all XJ750, and XJ900 tanks do not have any "indentations" for the emblem; rather, the emblem has a double-sided tape and is adhered directly to the smooth skin (well, the paint, actually……) of the tank. These adhesive-backed emblems can be removed from such tanks for re-painting (or other purposes) via "sawing" the emblem off with music wire, fishing line, etc.

The tank in question, pictured at the start of this thread, has obviously been re-painted, and thus the original stick-on emblems were previously removed before painting.

750 tank measures 34 inches from seam across front of filler neck to seam

I have a purple xj550 maxim tank and the guy who painted it did a good job hiding the emblem mounting bracket

Finally had some time to take the wife's sewing measuring tape and get some more pictures for further review and analysis. I hope other members find them useful.

Let me know your thoughts, please.
