My Carbs are Done

Just got my Carbs Re-done. Ultrasonically cleaned, soda blasted and polished, powder coated Diaphragm caps. Had to replace one diaphragm and upgrade to 124 Mains, 43 Pilots. Just had to show 'em off. Can't wait to try 'em out!

 

Is that Leopard or Alligator covering on the Carb Hats?

(They look very nice following the Soda Blast)

 

Powdercoating looks like anodic bronze.

Now the hard part is keeping them that clean. :wink:

 

Looks like you need to switch the #2 & 4 float bowls. They do look good though!

Why did you have to upgrade to 124 Mains and 43 Pilots? The 124 Main won't make much difference except at full throttle but a Pilot jet so large is likely to make the mixture so rich that it will foul the plugs at slow speeds.

Carbs are Never Done ... precisely.

You get to be like a guy with a Digital Chronograph Watch.

Constantly resetting the watch to be in sync with the Atomic Clock.
Some people (yours truly included) are messing with the Pilot Mixture Screws once or twice a month ... maybe more.

I'm at the point whehre my tweaks are within the width of a dime. Looking for a fine-tune that is slightly more quick than it is comfortable.
But I know that when August rolls-around ... them screws are getting tweaked on the LEAN side.
I like cruising ... touring is fun.

But, I like being able to keep up with the Joneses too.
When I wrench the throttle wide open ... I want to be riding a Fire Horse smelling smoke!

I'll go one better and recommend he use your allen head carb drain screws. I guarantee it's the best mod that can be done to the float bowls.

 

I wonder if the jets and other internal parts were installed with the same precision as the float bowls? LOL

 

The larger jets were chosen as a baseline to accomodate for other modifications I am doing on the bike. Hopefully they will work but as everyone knows, carbs are works in progress as far as set-up. I figure it safer to err on the rich side and work from there.
I will have to switch the float bowls when the carbs get back to me, not a big deal as I need to set float height anyway.
Steve, I also hope that everything was done properly and obviously can't wait to get them back to check them out.
