Carb repair kit: what's this part for? (pic)

    Hello again everyone:

    An out-of-town friend cleaned up some carbs I got for his 82 Seca 750. I also threw in some carb repair kits that included new float bowl gaskets, needles and seats(?). However they included these small metal discs and we couldn't figure out what they are for.

    Does anyone know what they are and what they do? Where does one install them? Please see pics...

    I believe they are the replacements blind plugs for the pilot mixture screw. I have never used them myself. They are to keep junk out of the hole where the screw seats. I just keep the mixture screws lubed. Everytime I lube the cables I squirt some in the hole.

    Yep Blue Max is right, those are the mixture screw covers.

    I dont use them either!
    I found some rubber plugs that I stick in mine.

    What rubber plugs did you find? That sounds like a good fix. I don't like the metal plugs because they have to be drilled out. I have no desire to do that every year at the carb clinic. ;)

    That's the Plug for the Mixture Screw. Those things are a nemesis. Once they go in the little Bore you cant get them out again without drilling.

    Once you FINALLY get your Mixture Screws adjusted right ... (I'm still fooling-around with mine [year two] ... you can add a fingertip of some Silicone Bathtub Caulk to the Hole and seal it.

    The Bathtub Caulk will keep-out dust and dirt, waterproof it and make it air tight. If you have to remove it ... it peels right out in one whole piece and you just toss it away.
