After reading all the posts about people breaking off the bolts and studs when trying to remove the exhaust header and the intake boots, I figured I would try anyways. To my surprise I was able to get the nuts off the exhaust with no problems at all. After getting lucky there I figured I would try my luck at getting the bolts out of the intake boots. Again, no problem! So far every single bolt on this bike has come off without a problem. Has anyone else had this kind of luck with their bikes?

NO. And we officially hate you now! :)
Don't forget to buy a tube of antisieze to treat those bolts with before reinstalling. I actually had to remove two of the intake boots when having the cylinder head shaved. I allowed the machinist to do it so he could fix it if they broke. They didn't and I didn't push my luck by trying to remove the other two. But those that were I treated with antisieze.

Recently put a new exhaust system on my xj650 and was somewhat concerned about the same thing. I sprayed PB Blaster liberally on the nuts the day before and let it sit for a while. Then I started the bike to heat up the exhaust a bit and applied some more then let sit overnight. I *carefully* broke them loose with a ratchet and socket by gently applying a 'tap' of torque in the tightening direction then loosening them. They all came off.

When you figure the Odds were at 16 -to- 1 that you would have broken one off ... You were LUCKY!

I didn't have any problems with mine either.

I had the same good luck with the intake and exhaust nuts and bolts. I have to drop my exhaust headers to do an oil change so they don't have a chance to seize. I am going to change my intake bolts to stainless steal this winter. I did use anti-seize on the bolts.

Me too. Not a problem for the intake bolts. Haven't tried the exhaust yet. I'm leaving that until I decide whether or not I want to change out the exhaust for appearance.

My exhaust nuts came off without any problems, either. In fact, one of them had come off whether I had wanted it to or not, and its companion on that pipe was getting ready to join it. Haven't tried the intake bolts, as I haven't had the need to.

My exhaust system was replaced with a 4 into 1 header many years ago and I too was removing it every time I changed oil. I finally figured out that I have enough room to remove the filter without the filter housing being completely taken off. I still need to take the pipe off every few years for fresh paint. I replaced the intake boots about four years ago and other than having to cut down an allen wrench to fit in, had no problems there either
