Spotted on fb marketplace, thought it must be wrong.....
    1984 Yamaha xj900f + parts £250 and only 36 miles away.
Message was sent, questions answered, I’ll have it.
Cadged a tail lift van from a mate and nipped over to Winsford on Saturday morning, what did we find, well I’ll tell you.
A superb condition 44k beauty, he has had to stop riding at 71, it’s too heavy and arthritic hands means he struggles with brake and clutch.
Newly fitted matching Bridgestone tyres, new brake pads, heated grips and a (but it did not help him) ‘easy pull’ clutch helper, new haven shocks and a new mot and 4into 1
it has a twin headlight PowerBronze full fairing, brass bar ends that he made along with a homemade top box and pannier carrier.

She does not run, the black fuel tank is a bit of a leaker, he sourced from Germany a very clean replacement tank, shame it’s blue, I have swapped them this morning, new seals for the tap and fuel level sensor (he supplied the new seals) had a bit of a job working out which of the 7 pipes from the carbs go where, sorted that but could go no further as I need some small hose clamps, I just know though that she will start straight away. Hope to get it started in the morning.

Included in the price were so many new and used spares it’s ridiculous, he gave me the new Haynes manual as the old one was grubby, along with a factory book, lots of the spares are brand new, he bought things ‘just in case’..... going from a quick look around ebay I estimate a good £600+ of bits, good tanks go for £250 alone.
Boy did I get lucky [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

well I got pictures, just not quite right.

I'm sure our resident XJ9 specialist Hogfiddles will be chiming in soon !!

    Hope you get her running

( is that the standard XJ bevel box breather??)

Nice Powerbronze fairing, haven't seen one of those since the 90's !!

Bit of a similar story to my XJ750 Seca..let me get this bit right RH/RJ? ;) factory Yamaha touring version....( not sure we ever got that one, in the UK....nor did I ever see one, in all my years over there .....I'll have to post pics soon, too!)

traveled a BIT further than Winsford, lol.....NY> Kentucky for this one, owner was in his late 70's, couldn't ride anymore...she was sitting for ages.......carbs needed a good clean, both silencers had rotted away.....from sitting in his leaky barn, but everything else was in vgc....cost me just North of a grand ( dollars) with some spares...

Couple more pics.....prove I am STILL a courier, lol, and yes, all the boxes/panniers are full.....of chocolate supplies, and it was about 88 degrees out that day, hence my, ahem 'lack' of safety gear ....sorry, I stole your thread ! Bike has not been on the road for a few years, I have put on a none leaking tank, fuel level and tap.
I have 3 pipes coming from the carbs, if you are sat on the bike 1 pipe is from between rh and middle rh carbs, 2 pipes (1 thinner) from between lh and lh middle, am I right in thinking the 2 thicker go to the fuel tap and thinner goes onto the tube in the middle/back of the tank ????

I've never really seen the XJ9 bevel box breather, thought it was very similar to the 650/750.....it may be aftermarket, you could/should send Hogfiddles a PM..he IS the sites resident expert, and XJ9 expert!!

Kerriskandiesinc I have never see an XJ like your 750 in the UK either. If they sold them here they did not have the factory touring panniers and box.

that's a lovely bike wayne ,and a steal. cycle parts look , interchangeable with the xj600 like mine.
best type of pipe clips to use are Mikalor, clips (or something spelt similar) the ones you squeeze together with pliers, and release to grip.
think deemon tweeks near Wrexham sell em

No mate, I have though trawled through hundreds of pictures of bevel breathers, nothing looked like mine, it may be something the previous owner made himself.

I've seen those breathers but can't say on any particular bike, so I assumed they were aftermarket.
I know for sure that aftermarket breathers were (maybe still are) available for rear ends.

I've honestly NEVER seen an XJ or any shaft with that ind of breather?.wondering who sells/manufactures it?, and just how do you lose your original one....I mean, it's designed to operate at certain pressures/temperatures, right??..I think I've only ever had mine 'froth' up once....probably forgot to change gear oil, for about 6 months/50K miles

I suspect the biggest buyers of them would have been BMW and Gold Wing riders.
    They like their farkles.
