Was looking at getting this bike. They have it listed as an 87...? Know that is incorrect. Thought someone here could help me identify what yr. Price is right! Also would this engine fit in an 80 maxim frame? Thanks! Screenshot_2019-11-02-16-03-29.png

it does look like an 80 650 non yics bike.

If you have access to the bike, take a look at the left side of the triple area under the steering head. It should say the month and yr it was built.

It’s an ‘80/‘81 based on the current engine. It is possible to be an ‘82/‘83 with a replacement engine from an earlier bike, though unlikely. Check the head tube. You could also asked them what the title says. They may think the 1 is a 7

The guy has no idea about it. Has it listed as an 87... Asked him questions and he Cantrell me anything. My prob is the case covers. Look Kinda like newer. Case covers are what makes me wonder. Everything else looks good.

Clutch and shifter covers are swap-able, paint-able, engine covers are available as aftermarket parts, etc.....and cover several models and years. If he has no clue, why would he arbitrarily choose 1987?
