I had the day off today, but it was just too damned hot out there to do much on the bike. Soooo... I stayed inside and cobbled together some video shots from last year, redoing the rear brakes.

Pretty basic stuff, but what the heck! I'm no teacher or motorcycle genius... and definitely not a broadcaster, so here's hoping it isn't horrendously bad!

    The video...

Something dawned on me, after posting this video. For any newbies that come along, I should add that, once everything is back together - Don't just set the rear brake pedal. Spin the back tire in neutral and make sure the brake pads aren't dragging on the drum when not being pressed down.

Very helpful video. Is there any way you could make a video one day of replacing or rebuilding your front calipers and brake lines?

It was in the middle of a nasty hot summer, when I did those brakes. I think I got bored of fussing with the camera, so I'm not sure yet if I got enough clips to make anything useful for the front brakes.

In the meantime, I found enough from redoing the master cylinder to maybe be worth a little help, here:

Great! Thanks for the helpful video. I’m trying to rebuild an XJ750R Seca almost from scratch and have been trying to find as much helpful things as I can. The toughest part has been finding videos about the brake lines and calipers.

Yeah. Yours is a maxim correct? But rebuilding ( or replacing) the caliper and pads process would be similar, right? Or no? I just haven’t been able to find any videos or how to’s for replacing a 750R brake lines.

Sorry to dig up an older thread but this is an awesome how to on the rear drum brakes.

Can I ask what both of those pins are called that you remove and replace on the rear wheel?

I've cant quite catch what you're calling them in the video

I call 'em cotter pins too.....or split pins, increasingly difficult to find ( bike....pedal bike shops used to carry them...last time I asked, they had NO idea, because modern pushbikes dont use 'em!!)
