Can't say as I have an answer for your question, but if you do get one, I wouldn't be so quick to toss the old one out -- sounds like a loose connection inside that could possibly be repaired.

CDI should really be the last thing you go to replace. They can be costly and hard to find - but others have had good luck. You can try your local bike wreckers and eBay.

Be sure to rule out all other potentials. Does the bike have a good ground? What do you mean when you touch the cdi box against the frame the bike dies? Does that imply the bike is running when it happens? If so - I'd be hesitant to assume it was the CDI/TCI

if you tap it and it dies, it is possible that you're dealing with a cold solder joint.

so... if you're handy with a soldering iron, you could try (as a last resort) to re-touch all the soldered connections inside the CDI.

I had to re-do one of mine -- I found out that a couple of traces inside were corroded, and some of the components were not tinned very good to begin with.

What is the number on your cdi unit. I have a half dozen or so laying around I might have the one you are looking for.
