Ok ik this is probably on here a lot. I don't have any manuals and I really don't wanna buy one just to get answers I can get here so I'm wondering what oil should I use (motor and gear oil for rear end) I work at Napa but we don't carry motorcycle oils and we also can't order very many, also how much will it hold I'm also replacing the filter. The sooner I can get the answers the better I wanna change it all asap

You don't mention what bike. I've a 650 Seca and the manual recommends Yamalube 20w-40. But, any JASO MA or MA2 rated oil will work. I'm in MN and use Rotella T4 15w-40 without any issues. It has the benefit of going on sale at Costco from time to time for $20 for 3 gal.

You can get banned for talking about engine oils on some Motorcycle forums ha ha.
Having said that I've used Rotella for a long time and in many different bikes. Rotella is a bargain, fair price.
    Cheers, 50gary

There is more in a service manual than just information on oil types. Its worth investing in one. You will have answers to your questions much faster.

i tried to use rotella once, then i saw bunches of kinds of rotella. went back to my trusted moble delvac 1300 super, because it was the only one there in a black bottle, simple.
now there's alot of delvac black bottles, 1300 super is still there, i just have to read the label.
all things being equal, i like the spout on the delvac bottle better.
if the guy at the parts store asks if you need help, say no
