    ... that is the question.

My Haynes manual (p.116) is very clearly against using instant gasket/RTV etc. 'on any part of the fuel system.'

OTOH, I know that some members are using it on the throttle shaft, with the quattro seals.

Has anyone used silicone with dire consequences ?

Should I just use a smear around the edges to complete the seal, or can I liberally apply the stuff, ie flush to the plastic washer ?

thanks guys, for the advice, patience, etc etc

RTV around the throttle shaft is dangerous, as it will fully harden.
RTV will resist fuel to an extent once it is fully dry, say 48 hours.
A better choice is Permatex Hylomar HPF.
It is a non hardening fuel resistant sealent.
It should be available at most auto parts stores, and is designed for your application.

Nice post Nacho! I'll second that, you shouldn't need an RTV for those seals anyway. I would use silicone grease for the installation but that is about it.
