With spring around the corner I have been trying to come up with ways to upgrade my xj650 and looking for a way to convert the rear rim to disc brakes without selling a small child. Spending hours doing what my wife calls a waste of time and an excuse to spend money (women...) I saw a video clip showing an xj900 rear wheel gearing match up to our rear hub. This didn't surprise me, what did was that the clutch hub plate the gear sits on is removable. So this got me thinking, would it be possible to buy that plate then lets say... place it on a 17" chain driven wheel like an r6. There would be a few modifications to the rim but am i crazy for thinking this could work?

That might work for others, i did the r6 fork swap so i would like to keep that type of rim. Also i am hoping the 4 inch width rim of the r6 would allow us to use a more standard tire size. Outside of a rear end swap, this might be an easier and cheaper thing so do.

Obviously machining will need to be done, an adapter plate shouldnt be too hard to make.

i found that Honda cb 600's has a similar rim to the r6 style at 17" and 4" wide. I am trying to find measurement specs before buying one\
