Hello everyone, I've been meaning to share this here just haven't had the time. So I am having trouble starting my bike. Here is a video of me trying to get it to start and the noise that it is making:

I appreciate any thoughts you all may have, thank you!

quit trying to start it, you might hurt something else. definitely the starter clutch, you can try changing the oil with some seafoam but that sounds bad. they usually catch a little bit.
don't buy anything till you see what's in there. the ring that the rollers and springs fit into can crack.

I went at again today and had a strange occurence, so I took off the side cover where you can put a wrench on and spin the engine. So I spun the engine in both directions for a little bit with the starter out and watched the idler gear spin. I then put the starter back on and all the suddent it was catching everytime and not letting go. So after maybe 15 min I tried again and it slipped again. I have no idea why it would just start engaging so reliably and then just cut out after waiting.

After some more testing I have found that the starter clutch only slips with the spark plugs in. With this in mind would you think this sounds more like a starter down on power which can't drive the engine with compression and lock the starter clutch in place? Another question is I have read about shooting solvent at the starter clutch.. Is it possible to hit it from the starter hole or is it only possible from the alternator shaft housing hole? If just the alternator shaft housing... does removing the alternator shaft cause other parts attached to it to fall?

you going to find posts about no starts because of low voltage, 10 volts or less while cranking, but the starter clutch was working as it should. yours sounds like it spins plenty fast enough for the clutch to work, and the voltage seems to be there. put the plugs in and look at the cranking voltage again.
    now this
the TCI doesn't like to work without sparkplugs grounded somehow, so no more cranking without plugs. if you must do that, unplug the TCI.
    look at this https://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042391f8700209bc787aa4/starter-clutch
it all fits together with the open side facing the wrong way for shooting cleaner at it. that's why a oil change/rinse out is used.
i think that alternator shaft will come out but it won't do any good, still on the wrong side

Thank you, I will check for a significant voltage drop again. The problem I am facing is I can't really do a rinse out because I cant get the engine started with the sparkplugs in. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and split the cases.
