    Hi all,
i'm mbertazz from the north of Italy and this is my bike:

It's my first bike and i love it.

I'm wriitng here for the first time but i'm reading those forums since last august when i bought my 550.

Now i'm thinking about two mods:
    1) new, smaller, indicators: what do you think about these:

    2) new mufflers: SITO silencers. anyone tried these?

    Thank you in advance,
    mbertazz

Welcome. Turn indicators should look great on that bike. You will lose the self canceling feature though, and may have to install a basic auto flasher unit. The LED indicators don't pull enough amps to trigger the old flashing units.

Welcome....Sharp looking bike !! Ahhhh.....I still recall the excitement of my first bike....... Best purchase I've ever made, and alway's will be!

As for the signals....You can also purchase resistors, and wire them in to slow the effects of the LED's down. One of the first mods I do on any bike. Just not a fan of the over sized original lights. The exhaust looks similar to a stock set up..... Are they just a bit quieter, or something. They certainly look sharp though.

    Cheesy!

You can get a Module from Signal Dynamics that Pulls the power needed to keep your Self Cancelling Unit and Flasher working even though you swapped-over th LED"s

Comes WITH the "BACK-OFF" Brake Modulator when you add LED's to the Brake Light ... just like Old RickCoMatic did ... today!

Both Modules ... the Latest Back-off and the Power Balancer add-up to about 5 square inches of space by 3/4" width or less.

    Hi mbertazz,

that's the bike I rode directly after it was available in germany in the 80ies. A friend of mine convinced me to take a test ride that time. Good one. But I kept my XT 500 ;-)

Anyway. The sito silencer is a good choice. I already put it on mx XJ900 as you can see on pics on my homepage. Just take it.

    /Ramon

they're not LED indicators but normal.

    But i've some problems...
new indicators come with a 12V 10W light bulbs so i bought 4 new orange light bulbs 12V 23W avaiable on the same web shop.

Orginal indicators have 12V 21W light bulbs mounted... and with my new indicators (so consuming 23W) there's no flashing,, can you tell me why?

I tried mountig the right side pair of indicators.

Do i have to buy 4 new 21W light bulbs or there's another solution (maybe it could be diffucult to find 21W light bulbs with same mount type).

Thank you in advance and sorry for my english,
    mbertazz

You can get a "Load Equalizer" from SDC (Signal Dynamics Corp) ... maker of the famous "Back-Off" Brake Modulator ... that will pull the load needed to make LED-type Signal Lights fire and draw enough current to activate the Flasher Unit and Self Canceling Module.

It's quite small and wires into the Signal wiring without any fuss.

    Hi all,
just to tell you i resolved my problem with indicators: now i'm using 10W bulbs and a 15 ohm resistor connected in parrarel to each bulb and they work fine!!!

Now i've just installed a Tommaselli clubman handlebar (bought new for 45 euros) and i'm going to give my bike a cafe racer style.
I'll post some new pictures on next we.

    Thank you again,
    Matteo
