Brakes catching

    So it’s been awhile but I have no ideas.. my front brakes catch.. if I crack open the bleeder they work perfect again.. I replaced the master with new old stock.. I replaced brake lines.. rebuilt calipers.. bled them .. they do this intermittently .. any ideas?

    brakes are like toilet handles, you really want them to work every time.
    all i can think of is the small pressure relief hole in the mc, plugged or the plunger seal isn't going back far enough to open it.
    with the top off the mc, work the lever, you should see the signs of fluid shooting up from that tiny hole. cover your tank, sometimes it gets messy

    I'm with Polock, something is amiss in the master cylinder. I would take it apart just as if I were rebuilding an old one. Even though it is "new" it's still "old."

    NOS is just what it is old stock it sat on a counter for a long time. May need to be rebuilt.
    its as old as 37 years.

    So I brought it in to a bike repair guy Bc I was getting nowhere .. he made the hole slightly bigger in the master cylinder and the brakes work perfect now...‍♂️

    "made the hole slightly bigger" means he cleaned it out with some wire to make flow better. I would hate to think used a drill bit to make bigger. Anyway, I am glad you have it fixed and are able to get out in our WI weather and wind to ride.
