I have a 83 seca 900. It was outdoors for a bit so it has some aluminum corrosion that needs cleaning up and one of the previous owners rattle canned the engine. I have the engine completely split and apart and I am attempting to strip it to down to bare aluminum to primer and paint it. I've tried two different strippers including aircraft remover and it only removes the rattle can coat. That powdercoat job was good. Any suggestions from experience would be greatly appreciated. Also does anybody know how to remove the bearing for the alternator shaft thats in the case? Just thought it might be easier to clean out of the case. If it is pressed in ill just clean it in the case.

I used an aircraft paint remover and it took off the 35 year old clear coat on the engine with no effort
I thought that stuff would take off anything...

It seems they removed the strong ingredient out of it and made it weaker.

Have the cases bead blasted, if powder coating is fresh it's kinda rubbery soft and the blast media will bounce off the surface. If that's the situation use a regular propane torch to scorch the coating (keep the torch moving all the time)
This will make the coating brittle then blasting will remove the coating. I have a friend that has had a coating shop for 30 years and he does that whenever necessary.
    Cheers, 50gary
