After some work on the tank and electrical I just tried to start up my 650, which has been sitting in a someone's barn for five years or more. The engine turned over but didn't fire. What's the standard procedure for trying to start up an engine that's been idle for so long? I'm pretty sure I got spark, not sure about the carbs.

Make sure you have good gas, new plugs and a strong battery. If the condition of the fuel in the carbs is in question, drain off what you can, then if it really looks skanky, remove the carbs and clean them ciompletely. You shoulfd be able to get it to run at least with the first three items. cruzerjd

Unless it was properly mothballed the carbs are certain to need work.
