    Hi all,

Just took apart my first carb ever! Super excited to get it cleaned up and hopefully get my bike up and running.

While dismantling the fuel rail assembly, I discovered the previous owner glued the part of the rail that is attached to each carb. I guess he didn't want to buy the appropriate o-rings to seal off the rail and decided to do this instead.

I've attached pictures of carb #1. I want to get rid of the glue, and I've ordered new o-rings from Chacal so I'm not worried about chewing up the one that's on there now. Is this fuel line removable, as in can I use pliers to pull it out and isolate it to get rid of the glue? Or should I soak the whole body and rail in carb cleaner to hopefully dissolve the glue? Any help would be appreciated!

I also took apart the rest of the carb and upon inspecting the diaphragm, I've got another question. There aren't any rips, and there doesn't appear to be any damage, but the diagram rubber seal itself is very limp. It doesn't really want to move up and down when I touch it. I know it's 40 years old but I'm not sure if it needs to be replaced or not. Am I okay with using it as long as there's no damage?

    Thank you very much!

Just remember, he probably put the same amount of time, effort, and ingenuity into every single other thing that he touched on the bike...........

Probably, eventually, he'll find some of that somewhere on the bike, too..........electrical system splice, I suppose.

Nothing like gum to protect bare wires and keep them in place.

This is probably the worst one.. I'm just going to hang onto them. No rips or holes and hopefully with some good silicon grease they'll seal well
