Bike is a 1982 Maxim 750. I have the cases split and I wanted to change the bolts for the starter chain guide to reduce my chances of stripping them putting them back in. I went and picked up some high temp bolts today but they are a bit shorter than the originals(pic below). Y'all think this would be a problem? I'm gonna put loctite on them but I'm not sure which strength to use. My other question is if it is possible to replace the crankshaft seal without removing the crank. I can't remove the crank without removing the cam chain and I'm lazy. The seal looks to be in good condition so I will leave it if I cant, just wanted to hear what y'all had to say. crank end caps can be dug out and replaced the replacments do not have the ridge around them need to use yamabond to seal.

bolts use blue locktite not red or you will have a difficult time removing them next time.

get the correct bolts , if your case is split the crank end seal right side should just pull out, left side should be exposed and removable.

i would think if you removed the cam chain tensioner , or 1 cam sprocket that would give you enough slack to get the left seal out and off
