I have read that older colortune models had spark jumping problems. Any advice on what model to get for my XJ700? Do I buy the colortune kit and then buy a deep 14 mm adapter? These things are costly so I don't want to make a mistake.

This should all be included with kit , at least mine is complete.

I could order a 14 MM kit but from what I can see the threads are short, not like the spark plugs. The longer adapter is sold separately. At least that is how it appears in the listings.

It is okay the thread is less on the plug , you only put this in until you get proper color , under no circumstances do you ride with colortune plug in place .

The fix for spark jumping us to cover the area of top of plug and connector with shrink wrap insulator. Worked for mine at least.

Doesn’t matter that the threads are shorter, you’re just setting the mixture and done.

Yes the olds have a sparkling issue but easily remedied as @cgutz mentioned. I just cut a small piece of old spark plug cable and put the inner liner over the electrode.
