Orange thing around piston

    82 Maxim 750. What is this orange thing around this piston? I can see it on some of the other pistons but not as much of it. Also that spot on the left is a piece of gasket material that fell down in there.

    The orange thing is an O ring which is an oil seal. You only need to replace them if you have stripped the cylinder head and juggs off the engine.

    You should be able to see them unless they are covered in oil. They must be there otherwise you will have oil leaking between the juggs and the crankcase when you get the engine running. What do you see?

    Oh I see them now. The piston in the picture is just the cleanest one. The rest of them I can see a hint of orange around them. Thanks!
