    Hello,

I'm changing the head gasket on my '83 750 (seca). I successfully broke loose all twelve dome nuts without snapping any. So I thought. Two of the nuts are stubborn and the studs have come loose instead. Which didn't seem like a broblem at first, but in an attempt to pull one out, it stops. Is there something I can't see holding it down there, or should I just man handle it? Help me out please.

You should be able to thread the rod out, cap and all. It is possible that the plastic "sleeves" that are located on the lower end of the cylinder studs have melted and are wedged into place down there. I would not hesitate to yank on the studs, the plastic is toast anyway. Good luck. Whereabouts are you at? We have a few members throughout the great state of CA, someone might be close at hand to help out.

Glad to hear you were sucessful. Don't worry about replacing the plastic, it is no longer available from the dealer (in fact I haven't seen it on any parts breakdowns either). I have not had any problems running without them.
Any particular reason for replacing the gasket?

I don't get down there too very often (spent 4 wonderful years at Miramar back in the 80's) but I do need to wander down there before too very long. Extended family lives in Lemon Grove and I haven't seen the kids in years. There are a few other folks I need to catch up with down there so odds are good I'll wander down there before too long.
Incidently, National City Cycles is top notch for parts and service. They are on National City Blvd just south of 8th St. Mike runs the place and his service manager Rob is highly knowledgable. They saved my bacon more than a few times.

Let me know if/when you do, and we'll see if your schedule matches up with mine. We'll hit up a Rubio's somewhere.

Changing the gasket for a couple reasons.
I snapped an allen head removing the carbs for cleaning. I dammaged the threads trying to drill the bolt out. Plus there was some pretty heavy seepage. Here's some pics of the replacement.
