Discovered this today probably been that way a while. Makes me a little sad. But either way I'm still gonna ride it. Do I bother doing anything with it? Try to drill the crack grind edges smooth? Leave it be? If she goes she goes probably swap motors if that were to happen.

Ignore the dirty oilyness of it, leaking valve cover, very obvious leak. Replacement coming.

I should say the biggest chunk missing the top one has been that way as long as I've had it. The lower missing and crack are new. Well recently noticed so I think this season

I suppose a person could aluminium braze and build it up. Lower heat, but still that's a bunch of heat. Tig maybe, I've not had much luck with cast,

if its just a daily rat rider remove the remaining cracked portion and make sure no crack will propagate any further, something you've already suggested.

A skilled guy can TIG as suggested. See Mezzmo's video or this one by Allen Millyard..

For the layman a new head might be easier though.

Mostly I guess I'm thinking will it hurt? I have tig I can big but would need practice and really would have to pull motor to get on its side.

So of its not going to matter much if missing I'd run it as is.
